Composites company An-Cor expanding in New York

An-Cor Industrial Plastics Inc. will expand in North Tonawanda, N.Y., to capture new business in fiberglass-reinforced plastics markets.

An-Cor will upgrade its production line to include dual-laminate tanks and pipes, which are more durable than simpler constructions because they have a corrosion-resistant liner reinforced with an outer shell of fiberglass-plastic composite.

"The expansion could potentially double our business and help us to get into the market all around the world," An-Cor President Merrill Arthur said in a news release.

An-Cor plans to invest more than $439,000 in the project, which will be completed in about five years. New York's Empire State Development is offering $200,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits.

An-Cor's 100,000-square-foot facility produces fiberglass tanks, pipes, scrubbers, ductwork and stacks that resist chemicals and fumes in factories where they are installed. Chemical plants, energy generating stations and metal processing operations are examples of sites that rely on such products.

The company, established in 1960, designs and produces its products in North Tonawanda, and installs and maintains them in the field. It is owned by Group DKG Corp., which also owns Precisioneering Ltd., a Toronto company that also manufactures FRP industrial components.
